Roofing System Specification

Scope

This specification details materials, construction, finish and size limitations for the Dualframe Roofing System. The roof is designed to suit a variety of applications. It can be fitted directly onto various walling materials including the Dualframe walling system or onto masonry. Many configurations of roof can be constructed such as three and five facet bell ends, full hip ends, lean to's, 'P' shapes. 'T' shapes and various other composite shapes. The roof pitch can vary from 5º to 35º on lean to roofs, and from 15º to 35º on apex roofs.

Materials

Aluminium profiles are extruded aluminium alloy 6060 T6 complying with the recommendations of BS EN 755-9:2001. Polyester powdercoated finishes to BS EN 12206-1:2004 are available in Monarch white, Monarch Brown or a variety of special colors. The inner and outer colors can differ from each other in any combination of the preceding colors. Glazing gaskets are produced from extruded TPE complying with BS 7412 and polyurethane foam enclosed in a polythene sheath and are set in grooves within the aluminium profiles.

To improve thermal performance a thermal break is incorporated into all major framing profiles. Two methods of thermal break are used, consisting of either poured polyurethane into a single profile, then cutting the profile bridge; or extruded polyamide mechanically crimped into two separate profiles.

Construction

Eaves beam members are mitre cut and jointed using extruded aluminium cleats. The majority of other members are square cut and butt jointed using stainless steel or aluminium tapping plates. All joints must be adequately sealed against water ingress using Tremco small joint sealant or suitable alternative. Spider joints are achieved using a patented extruded aluminium spider, and covered with a colour matched casting. All fixings are stainless steel.

Assembly and Installation

Assembly and installation of your conservatory project is completed by a factory team. Our trained and efficient installers work quickly and seamlessly to produce the very finest conservatory with complete leak-free warranties.

Glazing

Glass is set against extruded TPE gaskets and polyurethane foam enclosed in a polythene sheath retained in grooves within the framing members. Final retention of the glass is achieved by the fitting of aluminium cappings or beads with gaskets retained in grooves within the profiles. Polycarbonate or glass panels of 16mm or 24mm thickness can be accommodated. Sloped glazing is always tempered over laminate insulated glass units, which conform to code. Soft coat LowE, tints and argon are also available.
